Training is better than any bit. If I were you, when he started leaning on the bit, I'd let go of the reins so that he has nothing to lean on. Then take the slack back up until he leaned on it again. He'd soon learn that the reins won't support him, and he'll get smart and stop leaning.
try a softer better tasting bit, i use a copper french link snaffle mouth :)
You are searching in the wrong place. you should never use any kind of equipment to substitute for training. Forget the bit, train your horse, or get someone who can.
Personally, I'd start him/her out in a egg-butt snaffle. Then, if you need a stronger bit, transition to a full-cheek or D-ring. Only use a harsher bit if the pony isn't responsive/reactive.
Two-Bit thinks Ponyboy's hardening up when a couple of Socs want to pick a fight with them and Pony smashes the butt of a glass bottle and threatens them with it. They drive away and Pony tells Two-Bit that he would use the bottle too. Two-Bit, like most of the characters, doesn't want Pony to change and he want's Pony to stay in school and be the same person.
You shouldn'y use the word 'pony's', you should use the word 'ponies'. Appart from that you could say, the ponieswent down to the field today.

no there's not a specific pony you should use for riding there's loads of different breeds and it really depends on the size and weight of the rider because you can harm the animal if your too heavy. and if your going to a riding stables then they would decide what horse/pony for you and if you need to ask a question like that then you should even think about buying one!!
