The pressure in the left ventricle is significantly higher than the pressure in the right ventricle. This is true with the assumption that you are referring to ventricular systole (contraction of the ventricle). The left ventricle forces blood out of the heart into the aorta to all parts of the body, and that same pressure forces blood back through the veins.
The left side of the heart is bigger because it has to pump harder to get the oxygenated blood all the way around your body. The right side merely receives de-oxygenated (venous) blood.
Whilst the vein carries deoxygenated blood towards the heart and the artery carries oxygenated blood away from the heart and to the muscle, both of the blood vessels are the same in that they both carry blood. The arteries have 'springier', thicker walls as they have to carry the blood at a higher pressure. The flex in the walls helps them to not burst under the pressure.

The ventricles contract and force the blood under pressure, past the semi lunar valves into the arteries. The closing of the bicuspid and tricuspid valves prevents back flow. At the same time the atria and ventricles relax and blood begins to flow back into them from the veins.
