The left side of the heart is bigger because it has to pump harder to get the oxygenated blood all the way around your body. The right side merely receives de-oxygenated (venous) blood.

The right ventricle pumps blood for pulmonary circulation while the left ventricle pumps blood for the entire body or the systemic circulation. Because it is necessary to have greater blood pressure for the entire system rather than just for pulmonary circulation, the left ventricle is bigger and has thicker walls than the right ventricle.

Because the systemic circulation has a higher resistance more pressure is needed to make the same amount of blood flow than through the pulmonary circulation, where the resistance is low (bloodflow= pressure/resistance)

A ventricle is a part inthe heart that takes blood in from the right or left atrium. A ventricle is part in the heart that takes blood in from the right or left atrium.

The ventricles are the same size. However, the muscle around the left ventricle is thicker.

The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood from the lungs back out to the rest of the body so the cardiac muscle surrounding that ventricle is thicker and can provide the extra force to pump the blood out.

The left ventricle must pump blood to the aorta which sends blood to the entire body. The right ventricle only has to pump blood to the lungs, therefore the left ventricle has to be stronger and thicker than the right.

The left ventricle is thicker and stronger than the right ventricle because the left ventricle must pump blood against the entire arterial circulation, whereas the right ventricle pumps blood against the relatively low pressure pulmonary circulation.

The left ventricle is responsible for pumping the blood throughout the entire body while the right ventricle only pumps to the lungs so the left ventricle needs to generate more pressure

The left ventricle is larger. It pumps to your entire body, while the right ventricular only pumps through the lungs, so this makes sense.

because the left ventricle has to pump blood all around the body under high pressure, whereas the right ventricle only has to pump blood to the lungs under low pressure.

Why is the left side of a heart bigger than the other side?

Its not. The heart is located in the center of the thorax directly behind the sternum. the reason it is often though to be on the left hand side is that the left ventricle is considerably bigger than the right and so sits a little further to the left than the right does to the right.

Is your heart more to the left or right?

It means you are a normal individual. The right side of the heart supplies flow to and from the lungs. The left side must provide flow to the entire rest of the body. As a result, the left side of the heart must be stronger, hence larger.
