Energy is the key for any reaction to take place. To break the bonds of a substance, a fixed amount of energy is required which is called bond energy.

For some substances the bond energy is low and they do not require external energy and start reaction on their on there own whereas for some substances we have to provide external energy for the reaction to take place.

Do reactants and products break during a chemical reaction?

In a reaction, the bonds in reactants are broken down (endothermic) and new bonds formed. The new bonds formed (exothermic) will result in the formation of the products.

When a chemical reaction occurs what does a chemical bond?

The bonds between the atoms in the reactants are broken, and new bonds are formed which results in new products, different from the reactants.

What happens to the bonds of the products during a chemical reaction?

Chemical reactions always involve changes in the chemical bonds that join atoms in compounds. At least one chemical bond is broken or formed during a chemical reaction.

What happens chemical bonds during a chemical reaction?

Some or all of the existing chemical bonds in the reactants are broken and new chemical bonds are formed in the products.

What happenes to chemical bonds during chemical reaction?

In a chemical reaction, the bonds of the reactants are broken. The atoms will rearrange and new bonds will form.

What structures break in reactants?

These structures are bonds. 100% positive.

How do the substances change after a chemical reaction?

During a chemical reaction, bonds are broken between the atoms of the reactants and new bonds form to make the products. Essentially, the atoms of the reactants are rearranged to form the products.

What must be broken in reactants in order for a chemical reaction to take place?

The chemical bonds among the reactant atoms or molecules must be broken down.

Are bonds broken in an endothermic reaction?

Yes. No bonds broken, no reaction.

How are bonds related to chemical bonds?

Bonds in the reactants are broken, and bonds in the product are formed.

Definition of chemical reaction?

the process of forming new substances from reactants that involves the breaking and forming of chemical bonds.
