Well it depends on what you mean by intelligent. With the right training and proper places and treatment many dogs could be guard dogs. The most common are like, rotwilers, German sheperds, and mixed breeds. Many guard dogs though are treated badly so that they protect what they are supposed to. Altough they don't need to be abused they could just be trained to do what they are told. With out violence.

All dogs are indoor dogs but you have to train them to be an indoor dog, well i say most short-haired dogs do best indoors. Also German shepherd dog are smart and labradors. That's why they use them for guide dog and detective dogs.
German Shepherds are a fantastic breed to have for protection, and they do quite well with other German Shepherds and different breeds as well. Most breeds of dogs can get along, the key is training. Poor training will produce poorly behaved dogs that do not get along and can be aggressive. Firm training will produce highly trained and sound of mind animals. I recommend German Shepherds, as an owner of 2, and a Mom of 2 little ones, I see how protective yet loving additions to the family they can make.

An obedience show is when owners who have well trained dogs compete to win. The dogs are not judged on looks, but on their skills at tricks and agility. The commands that dogs must learn to be entered in most obedience rings are ''sit'', ''lie down'', ''shake'' and ''heel''. More advanced classes will ask for harder tricks.
