If your puppy is biting you too roughly, yelp loudly (seriously, it's dog-speak for "Ouch!") and smack him away (gently, though). If he calms down, leave it at that. If he continues to bite you, grab him by the neck (again, gently) and make him roll over, belly-up. Hold him there until he calms down.

The Great Dane puppy calms down around the magic age of two years old. There is always the exception of the dog that reamains a puppy all its life but with my Great Danes two years old was the magic time. They all of a sudden calm down and become very regal animals.
