You should stick to the diet recommended by your doctor. Most stomach ulcers are caused by a bacterium, and are curable with the proper antibiotics. If your doctor is not pursuing this route, see a gastroenterologist.

In the meantime, avoid spicy foods, alcohol, and over the counter painkillers like aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil) and naproxin sodium. Tylenol is OK, provided that you are, indeed, avoiding the alcohol and do not have liver problems.
