If its a plastic bowl get rid of it and buy a metal dish or a cermic one. Make sure you keep the water dishes out of direct sun light. That might help the algae grow, and wash them regularly to keep bacteria away.
A heated water bowl is designed to prevent water in freezing over as it would in a normal water bowl. The devices come in various designs catering to different animals.
First get a bucket of water, and put the same volume as is in the bowl in the bucket. Let the bucket sit over night, and put water conditioner in it. Net the fish out of the bowl, and put it in the bucket with the new water. Rinse the bowl out, and sponge the inside to remove any algae. Clean, and put back the gravel and ornaments. Pour the water and fish back into the clean bowl. DONT USE SOAP.
Algae grows on any surface where it can get enough water and sunlight. Algae are plants, and make energy from sunlight. Some places you can find algae include your fish tank, the ocean, rivers and lakes, underneath rocks, on the shady side of your house, or inside of the toilet bowl. They are pretty much everywhere.

Yes. Change your cat's water daily unless you have an automatic aerator or fountain. Algae, even if harmless, may discourage cats from drinking.
If you are talking about a low water level, this usually can be adjusted by insuring the fill line from the ball-cock (fill valve) is not clogged. This runs water into the overflow tube inside your tank and insures there is enough water in the bowl to create a seal and prevent sewer gas from comming up through the water closet. If you want less water in the bowl, this is usually regulated by the manufacturer of the water closet by the height of the "S Trap" molded into the bowl.
Pepper is a different chemical to that of detergent and therefore they repel each othere and the pepper moves as far as it can from the detergent which is the edge of the bowl.
Boutta find out rn. Have some spare tapioca pearls lying around. Popped some balls in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl and a liberal ammount of water. So far I hypothesize it will cook like quiona It's been 1 minute. Bubbling. Most of the water is gone (steam?) so I added a LOT more. 1 more minute. Water is ubbling. No outward change. 3 minutes, some of the pearls have gotten smaller and mot of the water was gone. I added more water. The bowl was too hot when I added the water and it chipped my favorite bowl. Do not cook tapioca in the microwave.
If your offering your ferret from a water bottle, try offering water in a bowl (use a heavy crock or bowl to prevent spillage) they will drink more from a bowl anyway. Make sure the water bottle is not positioned too low, so that they do not have to lower their head. If your ferret isn't drinking at all, it may be due to an illness, seek the advice of a veterinarian
