Another process is also 2 steps:
- Run the flue gasses through a catalyst with excess oxygen to convert the SO2 to SO3.
- Bubble that through a tank of water to produce sulfuric acid H2SO4.
In either process, the gypsum or sulfuric acid can be sold.
