Nothing, but break away the plaster in the area you want to run the wire into the wall than to repair replace with drywall.
Try a heavy coat of primer/sealer. The primer should condition and adhere to your plaster walls. Once the primer sets up (dries) you can then apply anything you want to those walls.
Plastering is an art which takes time to master it. Yes you can plaster yourself but it will take you a lot of practice to get a good smooth finish. If you want to give it a go you will need a multi finish plaster for normal walls, PVA, an old paintbrush, a bucket for mixing plaster, a float (the rectangular tool to spread the plaster on the wall) and a tray to use with the float. Once you buy all those bits then you need to mix the paster to a smooth mouse like consistency, PVA the walls before you start then begin plastering once the PVA becomes tacky to the touch. Normally the first coat of plaster will be applied quickly and does not have to be a perfect finish, then once this dries to a stage where you can place a finger print in the paster (not too sloppy or dried hard), then you add the second coat of plaster which will be the final finish. If you only need to do a couple of walls I would recommend hiring a professional as its very difficult to get it right. Watch the professional and learn how its done before attempting it yourself.
Depends what you want to stick onto it. Not many glues stick effectively to plaster.
no unless u want to get sick
If you sand plaster, there will be dust, that is unavoidable. If you don't want to inhale the dust, you can wear a face mask.

Why in the world would you want to paint a marbelite or plaster pool?
Paster of paris is a form of drywall, so I'm unclear on your meaning except possibly you have a wall with plaster over lath and want to cover it with drywall. You can find the studs electronically and go ahead and attach drywall to the face of the plaster with extra long screws. - Personally, I would rather repair whatever is wrong with the plaster and lath.
Plaster of Paris is found in most hardware stores. It comes in packages up to 25 pounds and as small as two pounds. Check with your local hardware store for prices. If you are going to make molds, be sure to inform your hardware store that you do NOT want plastering compound. This product comes premade in plastic buckets and is for the purpose of finishing drywall. What you want is Plaster of Paris so insist on it.
First you have to determine if is in fact a painted pool. If it is a plaster pool then usually there is no paint unless it was painted because of age and damaged plaster. You most likely do not want to paint a plaster pool - have it acid washed to clean plaster. Not sure how to determine what type paint. You would have to have the paint chips anaylized to determine if it is a chlorinated base paint or epoxy paint. Ken
