MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is made from waste wood fibres which are glued under heat and pressure. It is very versatile, but can be dangerous to use if proper safefy precautions are not adhered to. Most MDF slowly releases urea formaldehyde which is an irritant to the eyes and lungs. This can be sealed in with proper preparation and painting. The dust produced when sanding or cutting is another matter, and masks and goggles should ALWAYS be used when machining or cutting this material, and adequate ventilation should be present in the work area.

Mdf, or medium density fiberboard, is made up of finely ground up materials such as wood dust, and glue. The mix is pressed together making sheet that is void of imperfections and knots, like real wood would have.

it is made by saw dust (the things that fall of when you cut wood) and glue heated together and squashed together and then dried so that it is alright for you to cut it in to a shape that you would like to have

Counter tops, cabinet doors are two common uses. MDF can be heavy and because it has no grain like other plywood it is used for furniture or cabinetry that is painted not stained.
