If you have only a small sore, it may be deep or infected, but without wanting to cause any hypochondria, there is also a well known condition that prevents even small sores to heal... this is called peripheral neuropathy. It is caused by the deadening of nerves over a long period of time, often found in people with poorly controlled Diabetes. Even very shallow sores, such as a scratch that would draw a minor amount of blood, may take a long time to heal and then still leave a permanent scar or mark.

Quite often slow healing is a sign of diabetes, which can be deadly if not controlled. A visit to the doctor is needed . . . s(he) will take a quick, painless blood sample, at test its glucose level.
