if your asking "why they are small" its because there isnt much water in the desert so there isnt enough nutrients for the plants to grow big! when it does rain most of the plants store the water inside them, thats why most of the plants like the cactus have spines, to keep others away from their water supply. and the animals are small because of adaption. they had to adapt to the conditions and climate of the desert. smaller the body the less food it needs, and the better it can hide!
