  1. Keep glass super-clean - remove bugs, sap and ice immediately as well as regular dirt.
  2. Use a non-silicone based glass treatment like Aquapel or Trico View (which doesn't build-up on rubber) See below.
  3. Wipe Rubber Edges of wipers every time you gas-up.
  4. Keep vehicle out of direct sunlight as much as possible
  5. Keep vehicle out of extreme temperatures as much as possible
  6. If in cold weather scrape glass with scraper; not with wipers

The long and short of it however is that Consumer Reports actually recommends replacing them twice a year to maintain very good or execellent performance.

Where can you find the best automotive windshield wipers?

In my opinion, Silblade makes very good windshield wipers. They seem to last longer than most other brands of windshield wipers, based on my experience. I've used this brand in all the cars I own when it comes time to replace the wipers. They are actually very durable and last a while. Another alternative is the Trico NeoForm Beam Blade. Absolutely love them. See sources and related links below.

How do you turn on Volvo s80 headlight wiper?

To turn on the headlight wipers on a Volvo S80, first ensure that the headlights are activated. Then, pull the wiper stalk towards you (the same stalk used for the windshield wipers) to activate the headlight wipers. They will operate in conjunction with the windshield wipers when the headlights are on and conditions require cleaning. If the headlight wipers do not activate, check that the wiper system is functioning correctly and that the wiper fluid reservoir is filled.
