I am no expert but i do have a for wagon also, If the car has central locking (C/L) and the tail gate unlocks with the rest of the car then that would suggest that the key barrel is to blame, If it doesn't unlock with the C/L then that may suggest that the locking arms on the inside of your tailgate may be jammed. How even if the car does not have C/L you will have to remove the cover from the inside of the tailgate and see what you can come up with, Usually over time your key will wear and the locks will wear with it, However if the tailgate lock doesn't get used often the key would be worn but nit the lock in witch case you will need a locksmith to repair or replace the lock, Further more if you don't mind having a separate key just get a replacement lock from a wreckers and replace it yourself.

The nut used on the rear hub is a locking nut. With some muscle it will back off. It is advised not to reuse that nut.
