Actually, as weird as it is, it can fuel it.

Glucose (sugar) is what your brain uses as "food". So therefore, you will actually have more glucose in your system for your brain to use up.

That is why when you haven't eaten, your thoughts can be sort of foggy, you don't have enough glucose to fuel it. :)
