There are several answers to this question. Some that I can think of right off of the top of my head are low coolant level, thermostat stuck in the closed position not letting the coolant circulate through the engine properly, bad radiator cap not holding correct pressure, hole in the radiator not allowing it to hold the correct pressure, a busted radiator or heater hose, radiator needs cleaning, improper water anti-freeze mixture (Should be 50/50) the cooling fan may be bad or just not working correctly, fuse blown to the cooling fan. This is all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are other things that can cause it. Start with the simple inexpensive things, check the fuse to the cooling fan in the fuse panel, check coolant level, check cooling system for leaks, new thermostat about $5., new radiator cap about $5., correct mixture of water anti-freeze. If it gets hot within a few minutes of starting it is most likely the thermostat stuck closed. If it runs hot during stop and go you're probably not getting good circulation or your cooling fan is not working correctly or the coolant level is low or incorrect mixture.
Heater coil
My 01 deville had a cracked intake boot, between the throttle body and intake manifold, it would only leak when eng was hot.
Try replacing the motor to the a/c fan on the passenger side of the vehicle. That was the cause for my 98 deville to overheat. They sell the whole assembly for about $150.00 but they also sell the motor separate for $50.00. Its a lil more work but it'll save you $100.00
because ur heads need inserts..2500 dollar job
yes, if the Cadillac converter is not working properly it can cause you to loose power and may in the future cause you to loose your engine.
1 of a 100 but the 1st to check . BAD THERMOSTAT
Heater core has failed.
not for sure, but sound like something messed up in the dual climate control chip.
usually running hot coincides with a lack of coolant. Low coolant levels will eliminate circulation of coolant through heater core. ALMOST END RESULT----NO HEAT
Use Dexron III in your 94 transaxel. Check level while hot. Drive about 5 miles minimum. Remember too much fluid can damage it also.
my 1997 cadillac deville also runs at 205-220 and it hasn't overheated yet,but you should also know that the cooling fans don't even kick on until the engine temp reaches 222 degrees>>just to let you know. I'm not sure but mine runs between 206 and 219 and seems to be okay with it.
