I think you mean Canker Sores. Or they could be Ulcers. Or a popped taste bud, which will slowly die and disappear. Canker sores are little white dots that spread on your tongue of you have maybe just recovered from flu or cold, or if your have been eating hot or spicy foods. They are very painfull, i have one at the moment. A simple remedy to get rud of ulcers, popped taste buds and Canker sores is to make warm water ( not too hot! We don't want you to burn yourself ) and put some salt into a glass with the warm water, mix it around a bit, and then wash it around your mouth. DO NOT DRINK IT. Nothing will happen to you if you drink it, it just will be really yucky :( The white spot may pop, and it may hurt a little, but man, it's no where as painfull as waiting for it to go away. I don't want to scare you, but you could have mouth cancer. GET A DOCTOR TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT, HE KNOWS MORE THAN I DO. Hope i could help, bye now.

Typically I've noticed they appear after eating spicy or acidic foods. I assume it is just like any other part of our skin cells, if spicy or acidic items touch them for long they will become irritated and red. Salt water rinses will help heal them.

One possible reason could be due to something called, Oral Thrush. More info available at link here - http:/www.colgate.com/app/Colgate/US/OC/Information/OralHealthBasics/CommonConcerns/CankerSoresColdSoresAndInfections/ThrushCandidiasis.cvsp

Most likely caused by a virus, tiny and whitish they will last 3-5 days and become extremely sore and painful. They will often occur in sequential multiples of 3 to 4 per episode with a new one overlapping the older one almost immediately. The occurrence seems to be random in nature.

There are many kinds of bacteria which can live in the human mouth; if this condition becomes too severe it qualifies as "trench mouth" (as it was dubbed during WW I, when soldiers often found it difficult to maintain their personal hygiene while fighting for long periods of time in trenches). I recommend that you use mouthwash regularly.

Possibliities include herpes simplex, coxsackie virus, hand and mouth disease. All of these are pretty common, not grave, are contagious, and will go away in a short period of time.

According to some natural alternative theories, most white patchy sores or growth in the mouth are caused by a fungal infection or candidiasis
