What can cause my 1992 Ford Ranger XLT back up lights not to work?

Check the backup light switch on the transmission. Cost with tax about $36.00. 7/8" box end wrench works. Unplug the wire (it's a snap in plug, must lift both sides to unplug) and unscrew. The switch on mine was on the drivers side. Hope this helps. Roy
