All species in general have been said to like:
In wildlife most hamsters live separate.
Goldhamsters only come together to breed. Russian dwarfs live with their partner, but its not a good idea to keep them together in a cage because they will be getting offspring after offspring which is not good for the health of them. Roborovski dwarfhamsters can be held together, in female-female or male-male couples. But it does happen that they fight, so always keep an extra cage. Campellie dwarfhamsters can be held in couples too. Also in larger groups. But that isn't recommend to someone who isent an expert. Chinese hamsters must be held alone jsut like gold hamsters en Russian.
NEVER, I repeat, NEVER let one hamster play with another. Hamsters do not play. They really are happier when they are kept alone!
Campbells Dwarf Hamster have the best chance of living together. Sometimes Robos. Syrians HAVE to live alone, as with Winter Whites and Chinese Hamsters.
