Do you mean succession to the throne in Great Britain/UK? It would take an act of Parliament to interrupt succession, or civil war. Not even an unexpected death would interrupt it; according to the law the next in line (and the list is very long indeed) instantly becomes monarch on the death of the reigning monarch.
