new lower lying vegetation can spring up, if the soil is on an incline then erosion can occur. The extremes of erosion over a period of time could cause landslides, mudslides, etc. An ironic situation could arise if a family has logged a hillside to help build their house near where they logged, then, years later, a landslide occurred and destroyed the family's house.

You, get soil erosion. Valuable minerals in the soil get washed away, when it rains and also blown away by the wind. Habitat loss is another factor for birds and small animals.

Why forest that are replanted after being cut down are not always the same as the ones that were cut?

Because every tree is different so you will never get the same forest again after you cut is down. Also the years that the old trees have been sitting in the soil have grown to fit the needs of the trees living there so when you cut them down and plant new ones it takes years for the soil to adapt to the new trees which makes it an awkward looking arrangement.
