We can stop cutting down trees, or if not plant one after we chop one down. Erosion is a natural cause but if its because of pollution, then there is not much one person can do about it, but do your bit to stop nasty gasses!

Deforestation is the conversion of forested areas to non-forest land for use such as arable land, pasture, urban use, logged area, or wasteland. Tourism has zero affect on this issue. It may help decrease deforestation through education. Tourists rarely, if ever, cut down trees. They may learn through the use of the forest system just how wonderful and useful trees are and may prevent the loss of rain forests in the future.

Pollution could only be helped through education. Stop buying anything in plastic bottles. Stop driving so much and vacation near home. Yes, tourism tends to consume fuels and tourists tend to eat in fast food places that use Natural Resources up considerably faster.

It should be noted though that many people eat at these same places when they are home. Pollution really is not a tourist activity, as much as it is a product of our life style. We can create far more pollution at home by running air conditioners or the consumption of modern appliances and power.

Erosion is simply not related to tourism any more then rabies is related to chair sitting.

Fact about deforestation erosion and pollution caused by tourists?

Tourism would have no impact on deforestation and could in fact decrease the issue through awareness. North America has many tourists visiting their forests and the number of forest acres and density is increasing, not going down. They certainly do bring pollution with them. They drive their cars, they throw garbage. They use plastic bottles for their water. Erosion could be caused, in some small manner by over tourism. Trails that change watershed routes or by trampling vegetation near streams could cause issues.

Does soil erosion cause water pollution?

Yes. Soil erosion causes water pollution. The pollution from mud in the water is nowhere near as dangerous to people as the pollution from sewage. Likewise, excess fertilizer runoff creates algae blooms which poison people. Some health food nuts claimed blue green algae is good for you. Many cattle have died from drinking water from ponds filled with blue green algae. Fertilizer drained from farm fields into ponds caused the poisonous algae to grow. The pollution caused by soil erosion is bad. The pollution caused by fertilizer runoff is worse.

What main challenges does Indonesia face due to it's high population density?

Indonesia faces quite a few challenges because of the high population density. There are environmental issues, like deforestation, over farming on soil causing erosion, and water pollution. There are also challenges such as not enough freshwater for the people to drink, increased levels of other pollution, species extinctions caused by deforestation, a higher child and infant mortality rate, and the chance of new diseases and pandemics.
