There are a few things you can do to improve depression. The most important is to begin seeing a licensed psychologist or counselor. Verbalizing the situation and working with an experienced professional will make a huge difference in your mood. Additionally, the professional you are working with may find it necessary to prescribe an antidepressant. Depending upon the situation, this can be a great option. However, taking the medication is not a replacement for seeing a professional on a regular basis. Aside from seeing a licensed psychologist, there are small things you can do each day to help improve your mood. These include getting exercise, spending time outside, taking negative thoughts captive and replacing them with positive thoughts, and spending extra time with close friends or family.
