What can you do to be in shape for Navy Boot Camp and A school?

Run, do push ups, pull ups and set ups. That's really all there is to it. The other key is to be able take orders and do what you are told. In other words, turn off your brain and just respond.
My emphasis would be on running... That is the biggest problem with Sailors today. I recommend swallowing your pride and just doing as you are told as quickly as possible.

We were told that basic training would last 9 weeks. I joined the Navy in June of 1966 and left boot camp in San Diego the end of September 1966. Boot camp actually lasted 13 weeks.
