Should be getting good mileage already! One suggestion is to switch to an electronic ignition distributor or conversion kit installed in the distributor. Pertronix makes a good setup, follow their advice. A performance exhaust is easily done and can give better mileage also.
No,fuel filters come stock on a bug.
The gas mileage of a 1964 bug depends on if you have had a new engine put into it, on average a 1964 bug has a 1450cc-1500cc engine in it. Meaning it will have around 50-56 hp. The lower the horse power, the smaller the engine. If you have a 10% smaller engine you get about 6% higher gas mileage. If your slug bug has an ac kit it lowers gas mileage by 3. On average a 1964 bug will have 28-36 mph
28-30mpg :)
I owned a 71 SuperBug and the highway gas mileage was 28-32.
the fuel gauge is incorporated inside the speedo meter in the super bug.
My 73 gets 38mpg in town
madd scooter is so better. A JD bug is better if you are younger as it is a lot lighter
You don't because there isn't one. Cam drive on a 1974 Bug is done through a big gear riveted to the end of the cam, that engages a gear on the crank.
roughly 28 to 30 mpg ,totally stock unaltered engine
"R" on the fuel gage means "Reserve".
It needs an IRS Bug transmission. Any Bug from 1969 until end of production will have the right transmission in it.
10 gallons.
