The absolute best way to keep a corgi from developing back problems is to make sure that its weight stays within the ideal range. Corgis have big appetites and can very easily become overweight, which puts a great deal more strain on their backs. Remember that being just 3 or 4 pounds overweight, for a corgi, is like a human being carrying 20-25 extra pounds, and unlike humans, who carry their weight directly over their knees and ankles, corgis must support much of their weight with their long spines.
