1 cup of water,1 cup sugar, boil until dissolved. Add 1 bag of cranberries, boil until berries POP! remove from heat, berries will thicken as they set. I like to add rind of one orange after removing from heat. 1 package (1 quart) cranberries 2 cups water 2 cups sugar dash cinnamon (optional) Place cranberries in saucepan and add water. Bring to a boil. Simmer with lid on. Stir occasionally. When berries become softened, pour in a strainer. MASH as much pulp as possible through strainer. Pour pulp back into saucepan and add sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool and chill.
Treat fresh cranberries with care. Just prior to using them, place cranberries in a colander and briefly and gently rinse under cool running water. When using frozen berries in recipes that do not require cooking, thaw them well and drain prior to using. For cooked recipes, use unthawed berries to ensure maximum flavor. Extend the cooking time a few minutes to accommodate for the frozen berries. Cranberries retain their maximum amount of nutrients and taste when they are enjoyed fresh and not cooked. Their nutrients-including vitamins, antioxidants, and enzymes-are unable to withstand the temperatures used in baking.
There are many cranberry recipes. They can be chopped up in the food processor along with peeled Oranges, a lemon and sugar. Let it sit overnight in the refrigerator, and that's good. My favorite is the easiest. I wash them in a colander. Place them in a medium saucepan with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/3 cup water and cook them on the burner at medium high heat until they gently boil. Some of them will pop open so don't be surprised. Add a little Orange Juice if you like.

Cranberries are said to have antioxidants. However, the packaged dried cranberries have added sugars and preservatives. It would be healthier to just buy some fresh cranberries.
