The Shepherds heard the news of Jesus' birth and did something about it. They went to see him then told others about it too. Too often, people treat the good news of Christ as hum drum and do nothing about it. That is the lesson of the shepherds in a nutshell. We need to do something with the message and apply it to life.
1. They listened.
2. They believed.
3. They had a desire to know for themselves.
4. They sought out the Christ.
5. They knew he was special.
6. The Spirit testified to them
7. They spread the news.
8. They went away and pondered in their minds.
9. Faith and hope was added to knowledge.

I am not sure actually, I don't think that elizabeth is mentioned in the story of Christs birth at all... maybe you should read the bible, in mathew, mark, luke, john, the new testament.

The shepherds learned of Jesus' birth through an angel who appeared to them while they were out in the fields watching over their flock during the night. The angel told them the good news of the birth of the Savior and directed them to find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger in Bethlehem.
Jesus was not born on the 25th of December, as on that time of the year it is to cold there for shepherds to be looking after sheep. The early Christians gave 25th December as the date because pagans celebrated the birthday of Saturn the sun god. So they changed it for us.
After Jesus' birth in Bethlehem, the shepherds were the first to visit him, according to the New Testament. The angels announced the birth to the shepherds, who then went to see Jesus in the manger.
