The oral swab is to gather saliva for the assay. Fortunately for you, marijuana is not excreted into the saliva, at least not much of it is. A standard oral assay can only detect marijuana in the saliva if it was used within 12 hours of testing and sometimes it is not detected at all. However, if you're a heavy marijuana smoker it is possible for the THC to remain in your saliva for up to 3 days after the last use (The general absolute max for any drug tested using a saliva assay). In order to speed up the breakdown of the THC in your saliva, you can eat some high-fat food 2-3 hours prior to the test. I do not suggest drinking mouthwash prior to the test as it will show positive for alcohol and that can be just as bad. Some people also suggest eating some Altoid® mints before the test as well. If you don't mind perjuring yourself, they may ask about any intake in the last 24 hours, just say you have not eaten anything, although by saying yes, it is possible they will postpone the test giving you another day.
