The story is in the book of Genesis. Joseph, son of Jacob, had 10 very jealous brothers. Joseph was his father's favorite son. His brothers decided to get rid of him. They sold him to some traders who took Joseph to Egypt. Joseph went through a lot in Egypt until he was able to decipher a dream for Pharoah. Pharoah made him his chief advisor. Then, there's a famine all over the Middle East. But Joseph forsaw this famine in Pharoah's dream. So food was rationed and saved from times of plenty. Jacob hears that there's lots of food in Egypt. So he sends his sons down to Egypt to buy food. After playing with their minds a bit, Joseph invites his brothers and their families to come to Egypt and settle in Goshen.
Yes. This was part of God's plan for Joseph.Joseph was sold and taken to Egypt. He became a slave in Poiphars hous. Joseph was put in jail. Joseph was taken out of jail. Joseph was put in charge of all Egypt.Through these events God prepared the way for Joseph's family to come to Egypt during a famine. This is what Joseph said to his brothers when they met years after his brothers sold him as a slave:Gen 50:20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.Answer:God has a purpose for everything.1) In Potiphar's house, joseph gained experience in leadership (he became the head over all the other servants), which later served him well as viceroy of Egypt.2) He was tested by Potiphar's wife (Genesis ch.39) and came out of it spiritually unscathed. this was part of the reason why God saw fit to later raise him to greatness.
Gen:41:45: And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
The angel said this to Joseph in a dream. So they all three fled to Egypt.
