They started building the old globe theater in 1597 and it was finished in 1598. unfortunately it was burnt down on June 29, 1613 by a cannon shot in the performance Henry V111 the new globe theater was rebuilt and opened again in 1997.

A second Globe, with a more fireproof roof, was built immediately thereafter and was open for the 1614 season. Shakespeare had by that time retired and it is not clear that he had any connection with the second Globe theatre.
