The sinking of the lost city of Atlantis is a mythical story rather than a historical event. According to Plato's dialogues, Atlantis was punished by the gods for their arrogance and corruption, causing it to be submerged underwater. There is no scientific evidence to support the existence of Atlantis as a real city.
The sinking of Atlantis is a legend, not a historical event. The story of Atlantis sinking comes from the Greek philosopher Plato's dialogues, particularly the "Timaeus" and "Critias." In these dialogues, Plato describes Atlantis as a powerful island civilization that disappeared beneath the ocean in a single day due to its citizens' moral corruption.
There is no concrete evidence to suggest that Atlantis actually existed, let alone sank 1600 years ago. Atlantis is a mythological island first mentioned by the Greek philosopher Plato in his dialogues, and its actual location and existence remain unknown and debated among historians and archaeologists.
The word "sinkhole" originates from the Middle Low German term "sinken" which means to sink, and "hohl" which means hole. It has been used in English since the 18th century to describe a depression or hole in the ground caused by the collapse of surface layer materials.

Atlantis is a semi-mythical place. There is no evidence that it really existed. If it did it was likely to be in the Mediterranean Sea.
Correct.
Atlantis first came to light in the writings of Plato, the eminent Greek Philosopher in what we now call 360 BC ( Boxing the Compass). He mentioned it in two dialogues. There are no sources independent of Plato ( from his time period) for the alleged Lost Continent. Atlantis- manned and populated , figures in DC comics in both the Aquaman series and the character of Lori Lemaris, Superman"s mermaid paramour who occasionally floats into action in various DC specials. Tritonis is the capital city of Atlantis in DC Universe. How Wonder Woman got mixed up with the aquatic-Nea, Neptunian- Atlantean Trident symbol- wielded by Queen Hippolyta I do not know. It is a maritime symbol.
Its possible maybe Neptune the Greek god of water perhaps was punishing the people of Atlantis for something they had done or was jealous of how beautiful the island of Atlantis was or they were punishing them for how they were using gems and crystals they were using to control everything. Or maybe Zeus made a storm and killed the city.
