What you are probably referring to is what is sometimes called 'cabin fever.' It is also called seasonal depressive syndrome and has to do with limited amounts of exposure to the outdoors, particularly without sunlight. And isolation, lack of stimulating activity, and boredom. The combination of all those makes some people likely to develop symptoms like irritability, sleep pattern disturbances, lethargy, and depression.
