Common cause for this type of malfunction is improper timing. This is dangerous in these engines. I suggest you take the vehicle to a competent mechanic immediately.
Well, mostly the fact that its extremely heavy and not even close to being aero-dynamic.
The timing marks were probably not set right when the timing chain was changed. This will cause the timing to be off and can result in backfiring and loss of power.
Many things but you might start with a clogged catalytic converter.
Loss of power, smoke, knocking noise, popping noise, backfiring through carb, or out tailpipe. Any, or, all of these.
Gravity! We fight that loss of power by using more torque.
Check the catlytic converter for blockage

Reactance certainly causes loss in a transmission system, but I^2R or resistance losses are greater.
Hmm, I had a similar problem with my Ranger. It had an untraceable electrical problem, and we sold it for scrap. Symptoms include backfiring, severe loss of RPM before backfiring, dying unexpectedly, just about everything it shouldn't do. How bad is the sputter? Does it sputter, or does it sound like a large dying animal?
Check power steering fluid first, then take it to the shop if it is full.
Probably the increased load on the engine caused by the power steering pump.
There are several causes that can cause a generator turbine system to lose power. The most common cause is a lack of fuel.
