If a car sputters when it accelerates there may be a problem with the ignition. Another option is that the timing belt is malfunctioning.
Try disconnection your MAF ( mass airflow sensor ) and if it doesn't sputter when you accelarate, it means your sensor is gonzo.
There could be a few causes for a car to spit and sputter on acceleration. One common cause would be the engine not getting enough fuel, so it could be a problem in the fuel line, fuel filter, or fuel pump.
No
Check for codes... It maybe a bad coilpack. Or bad sparkplugs.
Bad ignition coil will cause engine to sputter and hesitate on acceleration.
You need to check the fuel pump.
I expect the motor to sputter to life any second, now... The clerk was so exasperated, he could only sputter.
A lot depends on when it is sputtering. Is it hesitating under acceleration? That is what happens most commonly in eclipses. It is probably a misfire in one of the cylinders. Change your plugs and wires.
Check to see that transmission linkage not making contact with wiring while gear selector in forward position.
ignition module? i had a ford that did that once it warmed up. either that or the fuel pump cant handle the pressure from the acceleration. dont know exactly because i am not a mechanic but........
Time for a good tune up with spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor. Don't forget the air and fuel filters.
My camero doesn't sputter ever, even when you accelerate.
