I know your problem is related to the transmission, due to the lock-up converter in the transmission. It's usually related to, or with, higher mileage vehicles with thinning Transmission Fluid and/or high mileage. Unfortunately, changing the transmission fluid on higher mileage cars can actually cause more damage sooner than not changing it. Wish I could help you out more since I own one of these cars myself and have the same problem. I'm still trying to figure out how to change the headlights!
mine does that aswell, its normal to do that it will run below 1000rpm etc
