There are a number of possible causes. Probably the most common would be Demodex also called "puppy mange." It is caused by a mite that commonly lives on dogs without causing any problems. However, in puppies, with incompletely developed immune systems they can cause problems.
The pup usually presents with small bald patches around the eyes and mouth. Medicated creams can be used to treat localized reactions and the pup's own immune system usually kicks in to deal with the problem in the end.
If the problem spreads to other areas of the body or lasts more than a couple of weeks the problem may be a more serious form of mange.
There are, of course, many other possible causes, including Allergies, ringworm, and parasites among others. Demodex is just the most common. Only a veterinarian can diagnose what a specific puppy's problem is and prescribe the appropriate treatment.
I have a 7 month old staffie Iv had him from 17 weeks old and within 4 weeks he started with patches under his chin, I took him to the vets and he was given a 10 day course of antibiotics, this hasn't worked and he has now got them on his front legs and some appearing on his sides. Iv been applying cream which is for bald patches but new ones are still appearing, he is full vaccinated and wormed and up to date, I don't know what to do please help!! mel x
Its All Part of growing up for a puppy because their fur changes as they get older and its nothing to worry about ever dog goses through it and they cant feel it , it just generally happens over time.
It's just the breed.
They shed a lot.
Mine lost enough hair in one week, you could create a whole other pug with all the hair he lost.
Not sure but i think sometimes if your dog has fleas it may cause bald patches over its fur
maybe it could be because of its food you fed it or it might be needing a wash
Horrible food! Diseases like mange
it has cancer
maybe some kind of allergy
fleas
Your dog most likely has ringworm. Sorry.
lots
First of all don't let your dog play with a sick dog. Tell the owner of the sick dog to take it into a Veterinarian. If your dog is losing large amounts of hair or has bald spots on his coat, take him into your Veterinarian to be checked out for such things as demodex or sarcoptic mange mites or other issues. Losing small amounts of hair is normal as they are shedding. Make sure you have your dog on a good brand name of dog food.
Is you dog showing signs of a pot belly or eating more than usual? Losing hair is a sign of cushings disease
No! Other than a hair transplant there is nothing on the market that will make your hair grow. If you are losing hair (a guy) then get it cut in a nice style (shorter) go to a hairstylist (lots of guys go.) Longer hair makes the hair look thinner when you're losing hair.
I used Epi-Smoothe on my dog. She has some spots where her fur is falling out
Look up Mange... and consult a Veterinarian.
It kepps you from losing your hair most of the time but some side effect are losing of hair.
There are many reasons that your dog is having diarrhea and losing hair. Take your dog into your Veterinarian to have a check up. Bring in a small sample of your pet's feces too so the Vet can check it for internal parasites or signs of blood. Don't try to diagnose your dog yourself, take to your Vet. Make sure you are feeding your dog a good name dog food and not some cheap store brand food.
If a dog (any dog) is losing hair in big enough patches to see his bare skin where he has lost it, he probably has mange, and should be seen by a vet. There are other causes too,but mange is the first thing the vet will suspect. Take him to the vet.
Your dog probably has allergy's and is gnawing on his feet to try to stop the itch or your dog is getting old and has callus from so much use.
