Basically, you can't Black smoke the '05 or pretty much anything else these days. In Texas we have to use that "low sulphur" diesel fuel which really eliminated much of that black smoke. Also, if you've upgraded your exhaust system to a 4" or above tail pipe, you have in fact, increased the outflow of exhaust gasses, which was also part of the 'black smoking' pipes used on 'stock' motors and exhaust.
Black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture (over fueling). This can be caused by many different problems.
Have the engine checked, your turbo may have quit working, you may have noticed a lot of black smoke lately while driving, it means there isn't enough air to mix with the fuel.
