It sounds like the field voltage potentiometer is not working or has been turned up. Try turning it down and see if the output voltage goes down with it. If it doesn't then the voltage regulator is not working as the field voltage is regulated from the regulator.

Advantages and disadvatages of a self excited induction generator?

The main disadvantage should be obvious - when the output voltage of the generator is used to provide field current to the generator....what happens if the output voltage sags? If the output voltage becomes depressed, the output power of the generator is compromised (becomes less and less), this in turn can cause the output to become more depressed, leading to an incrementally decreasing output capability. The main advantage is cost savings.

Can you run a 2500 watt pressure washer of a generator?

It depends on the rated output of the generator. A 2500 watt pressure washer should be powered by a generator with a rated output of at least 3000 watts to allow for start-up surges and ensure continuous operation without overloading the generator. Always check the manufacturer's recommendations for power requirements before connecting any appliance to a generator.

What would be minimum capacity of transformer betweed generator and 220 kV transmission line system?

At a minimum, the main step up transformer for a generator should carry 105% of the full MW output of the generator.

How do you make generator output voltage stable?

Inside the generators junction box there will be termination points that the generator coils terminate on. On the inside of the lid of the junction box there should be a diagram for different connections allowed for that generator. By moving jumpers around across these terminals a variety of voltages can be obtained.

What should a monopoly do if marginal revenue exceeds marginal cost?

increase output

How does the area of a wind turbine affect its energy output?

The larger the area of a wind turbine's rotor blades, the more wind it can capture, resulting in greater energy output. This is because larger blades can generate more mechanical energy from the wind, which can then be converted into electrical energy by the turbine's generator.

When do you know when a generator is working?

Depending on the type of generator, you can measure the voltage at the output. Assuming it's a regular 120 volt AC generator, the output should measure 120V AC. If it doesn't, you may have problems.

If you want to increase the power output should you increase the amount of work done or increase the time spent in doing work Explain.?

To increase power output, you should focus on increasing the amount of work done in a given amount of time, rather than increasing the time spent doing work. Power is directly proportional to the rate at which work is done, so by increasing the amount of work done in the same time frame, you can increase power output.

What causes a generator to stop?

There are many reasons why a generator should stop. If you are referring to a petrol (gasoline) generator, one reason is that it may be overloaded (i.e. its load draws too much current), causing the motor to stall.

What should be the ideal rpm for maximum production of electricity in an AC generator?

The ideal RPM (revolutions per minute) for maximum electricity production in an AC generator depends on the generator's design and the frequency of the electricity being produced. For example, in a generator designed for 60 Hz output, the ideal RPM is typically around 1800 RPM for a 2-pole generator or 3600 RPM for a 4-pole generator. Similarly, for a 50 Hz output, the ideal RPM would be around 1500 RPM for a 2-pole generator and 3000 RPM for a 4-pole generator. The optimal RPM ensures that the generator operates efficiently, producing the maximum voltage and current.

What size generator do you need to run a static caravan?

A generator with a power output between 2-5 kilowatts should be sufficient to run basic appliances in a static caravan. It's important to consider the power requirements of specific appliances to determine the right size generator for your needs.

What actions to be taken should a main generator circuit breaker stay connected?

I don't understand the question. <<>> If your generator's main breaker does not trip when an overload occurs on the generator's output the breaker's trip setting needs to be looked at. Usually the molded case breaker's face cover can be removed. This will allow you access to the trip settings. Set the overloads to the maximum generator's output. The short circuit setting should be set at 250% of the maximum generator output. If these parameters can not be met on the existing breaker there might be a chance that the breaker has been changed out at some point in time and the wrong breaker was installed at that time. This scenario happens quite frequently on remote operations where the service has to be maintained and the site doesn't have a second back up generator. The site supervisor usually says "just make it work".
