Most likely the gearbox mounts are failing and need replacing. This can cause this problem even when the engine mounts are fine.
You have to be more specific. Is the vehicle a 5 spd or auto? Does it only happen on first gear? Are all you motor mounts and tranmission mounts good. write back and I'll be able to get into more specifics.
194CI, 250CI, or a 283, unless you install new motor mounts, good luck
Wire, Switch, Motor, window regulator.
If automatic, hold brake, put in gear, apply slight amount of gas, see engine flop around? you need mounts. Same applies for reverse.
Sounds Like Bad Motor Mounts. Check This Out First. GOOD LUCK
I am having the same issue with my 97 Geo Prizm. I had my mechanic look at it. He slightly jacked up the motor and said the vibration wnet away and as he suspected it was the worn out motor mounts. It is worse in the winter when it is cold. I am in the process of replacing the motor mounts now, but the cheapest I can find them is almost $300 on the web. Good luck
The location of the motor mounts is as follows. Passenger side motor mount is directly to the side of the engine on a 3.3 liter V6. The front motor mount is on the front bottom directly underneath the radiator. The left mount is on the lower driver side. If you are changing forward mount, be sure to index the vibration insulator inside the metal mount. Good luck The location of the motor mounts is as follows. It appears that you will have to remove both front motor mounts in order to make room to lift out the entire dual fan assembly. After that either replace entire assembly or replace both motors. I would be darned sure that the fan motors are the problem before getting into all that. The front mounts are torque mounts they do not hold the engine from falling out of the car they prevent rotation of the motor which is good in this case as it gives you more space Good Luck!
Yes I have done it, the frames are almost identical throughout the whole 50's. There is no "Kit" or bolt in that will work, you will have to fabricate your own motor mounts/transmission mounts. Best motor for the job would be a 360 Mopar, no modification required other than the motor/trans mounts you can use the existing radiator, tons of power and potential for more. One of the cheapest motors to build and very abundant. A 318 is also a good motor to swap they are VERY abundant but being the little brother to the 360 you lose some power with it.
You first have to unbolt the engine from the motor mounts and unbolt the engine from the transmission. You then will remove the motor from the truck to make replacing the mounts easier. The mounts should each be held down by four bolts going into the frame. Remove or cut these bolts to remove the old mounts. You can then install the new motor mounts.Answer 2.0 if you don't care for making it "easier": you can jack the truck up on one side, put stand under pulley on crank, lower truck onto it, as you lover or raise the jack you'll have good control over your bolts...go to local parts store and just read the book there.if it gets real bad , have vehicle put on a lift, take off the wheel, use long extension on impact driver by placing it in a wheel well. while holding motor up on tall stand.
No, The intrepid itself is a pile. I had one for not even six months and the motor blew up on me. Only way your motor is going to be good is if you rebuild the whole motor.
Be sure that the mounts have not compressed. Also be sure to check the transmission mount, that it hasn't compressed.
