Refined (processed) carbohydrates, plus all artificially flavoured or colored foods, sodas, and other sugar and fat filled foods are major causes of obesity. Overweight and obesity are the result of a lack of energy balance - that is, a chronic excess of energy intake (food and beverage consumption) over energy expenditure (physical activity). Although some people are more genetically susceptible to weight gain than others, the rapid increase in the prevalence of obesity in recent years has occurred too quickly to be explained by genetic changes and most experts believe it is due to living in an increasingly 'obesogenic' environment - one that promotes over consumption of refined carbohydrate foods, sodas, sugary drinks, and limits opportunities for physical activity. WHAT CAUSES OBESITY

So, what causes obesity?

Well, the cause of obesity is an over-consumption of refined processed carbohydrates coupled with a lack of activity and not consuming enough specific fat burning proteins. If you are not sure what either of these two food groups is, further down this answer you will find full lists.

Over-consumption of refined processed carbohydrate is also a major cause of heart disease, high blood pressure, borderline or type 2 Diabetes, many other diet related diseases and conditions, plus degrees of insulin resistance that make it harder to lose weight and easier to gain weight.

Moreover, nowadays, many overweight people, and many normal weight people, are addicted to refined processed carbohydrates.

Over-consumption of, refined processed carbohydrates, plus a lack of the specific 'fat burning proteins' that control the situation and reverse obesity, can then lead to overeating, or compulsive eating, food cravings for comfort eating, or emotional eating. When this happens, the person is spiraling out of control and this leads to further and further weight gain.

An excellent book about refined processed carbohydrates, and what to avoid, and how to use the specific fat burning proteins, offers both help and a treatment for what causes obesity. Written by Dr D. Bradford, it is called Compulsive Overeating Help: How You Can Stop Food Cravings, Food Addiction, or Emotional Eating in 6 Simple Steps!

Though some people are more genetically susceptible to weight gain than others are -- usually due varying degrees of insulin resistance [I'll say more about that further down this page]the prevalence of obesity occurred so swiftly in recent years because of our over-consumption of refined processed carbohydrate.

You see, when digested all carbohydrate, even natural unprocessed vegetable and fruit carbohydrate, turns into sugar.

Hence, eating refined processed carbohydrate is like eating concentrated sugar.

Our ancient ancestors did not have these foods in their diet (but they did have specific fat burning proteins)
. So, they had no need for weight loss diets. Those ancestors were leaner and fitter! Nowadays, many, many people have a problem with refined processed carbs because our bodies are extremely similar to the bodies of our ancient ancestors and consequently our bodies are not designed for this modern-day way of eating

In fact, less than 1/10th of 1% of our genes have changed in the last 10,000 years. In terms of evolution, it is not that long ago!

Most experts now accept that obesity is due to living in an increasingly obese prone environment that ready makes available and promotes an over-consumption of refined processed carbohydrates that causes weight gain, or obesity, which then limits physical activity and leads to more weight gain.

In addition, many obese individuals are insulin resistant (often without being aware of it).

People who are insulin resistant will gain weight easily, have great difficulty losing weight, despite their best efforts, and they will probably have a long history of frequent dieting. (They may also have a family history of unwanted weight gain, obesity, or type 2 diabetes.)

If any of the above paragraph sounds like you, the answer to insulin resistance (which can sometimes lead to borderline or type 2 diabetes) is to count carbohydrates rather than calories and to use the specific fat burning proteins. If you have become very insulin resistant, you may need to count both carbohydrates and calories in order to lose weight (but you should always count carbohydrates).

Once you become too obese it is difficult to exercise comfortably. In which case, first lose some weight by following the dietary guidelines outlined on this page, or in the book mentioned above, and then add exercise. For people who are physically handicapped or not able-bodied enough to exercise, for whatever reason, you can still achieve excellent results and reverse obesity, without exercise, again by following the same dietary guidelines outlined on this page, or in the book mentioned above.

WHAT CAUSES OBESITY, SUMMARY

The treatment for obesity is to avoid or strictly limit (apart from an occasional treat) all refined processed carbohydrates and replace them with the specific fat burning proteins to full advantage of the fat burning thermic effect of these foods to burn body fat.

Plus, if you are able-bodied, when you have lost enough weight to exercise comfortably, you can add cardiovascular (cardio) exercise. If you are prepared to go further, add strength training for optimum health and weight loss. Strength training is not only beneficial in many ways for optimum health it also builds more muscle, and muscle will burn calories 24 hours per day and not just when you are exercising.

Again, for people who are physically handicapped or not able-bodied, you can still achieve excellent results without exercise and reverse obesity (it may simply take a little longer), by following the dietary guidelines

So, for the 'what causes obesity' lists plans and in depth information about the thermic effect of fat burning proteins use the page links given below.

Why do you get your period twice?

What do you mean? You get your period about every 28 days. When you get pregnant, it stops. Eventually, around 50, you will start menopause. Which is the time in a woman's life when menstrual periods permanently stop; it is also called the "change of life." Menopause is the opposite of the menarche. Menarche is when your period is just beginning.
