Rust happens to any iron containg substance. No iron = no rust. When water flows over iron, it strips electrons off of the iron (i.e: oxidises the iron and reduces the water). After enough time, enough electrons have been stripped off the irons outermost/valence shell that it's chemical and physical properties begin to change and hence you get the change of colour. So if one keep water away from iron, there will be little rust.Other substances can strip electrons away from iron as well such as salt.that's why things rust more near rhe coast. But basically ,the removal of electrons from the iron atom causes rust - the oxidation of iron.
please answer my question coz am wasting my time if you are not answering my question!
oxidation
oxegen in the air meets wih chemicals in the rock or metal and causes oxidation (the wearing down of rocks or rusting of metals
If this dirt is formed only from dry soil particles rusting doesn't occur; possible errosion.
Rusting is an oxidation reaction.
Rusting is a chemical change.
How is iron gate is prevented from rusting
Its the moisture which causes rusting of iron
It causes rusting
Rusting
Chemical
Oxygen.
Rusting - oxidation- corrosion.
Rusting is the oxidation of iron in a humid environment.
Chemical weathering is caused by chemical reactions in the substance, for example, when oxidation causes rusting.
chemical change
If it is left for some time as the water will oxygenate and the oxygen is what causes rusting.
oxegen in the air meets wih chemicals in the rock or metal and causes oxidation (the wearing down of rocks or rusting of metals
Rusting of iron is a chemical reaction of oxidation in the presence of water.
