Salt. Salt dissolves in water, and causes the freezing point to fall; this causes the ice to melt. Sugar does not have this effect, and chalk doesn't dissolve in water.

Most likely the solution is water and salt. The salt in the water causes the celery to pull water out of itself to try and even out the salt to water concentration. This causes the celery to wilt.
In fact the level of salt in water causes the opposite. The higher the salt content, the less likely you are to sink. The Dead sea is my example for this.
If you split wood with an axe, no. Atom splitting requires an extremely large amount of energy and causes an explosion.
The salt makes the water a better conductor.

The salt will drain out its water and end up killing it. it causes plasmolezed
Only the water evaporates. (At least at reasonable temperatures.)
i think salt causes the body to decrease urine.

It causes the density to increase because the more salt added to water, the more buoyant or dense it becomes. Salt itself does not evaporate as the water does so as the water evaporates the salt content is effectively increased, therefore making the water more saline or dense.
Dense amassments of salt. This is also commonly known as salinity.
Salt lowers the freezing temperature of water/ice therefore the water/ice needs to be colder then usual to freeze.
The salt takes in all of the water in your mouth which causes it to be dry and therefore you are thirsty
salt causes the temp of ice water to decrease.
