The reason places at the same latitude tend to be around the same temperature is because the duration and angle of the sun are the same. Places at the same latitude receive about the same amount amount of radiation.

No, but their metabolism slows when water temps drop.

As of today, July 20, 2010 when this reply is being written, the current ocean water temps along the Jersey Shore are hovering around 80 degrees (F). It should be noted, that ocean water temps along the eastern seaboard, and along the gulf coast are the warmest on record, or close to it. What the normal temp is for July, I do not know. Lower than 80!
The proximity to a large body of water or ocean currents can impact the temperature ranges in cities at the same elevation and latitude. Ocean currents can transport heat, affecting the local climate and leading to variations in temperature ranges between cities.
Only if the hot water breaker is turned off.

I have the same bike, I've seen my temps climb as high as 230 on a 90-100* day in stop and go traffic. I changed the coolant and did a 65%_35% water to coolant ratio and have seen a 10 degree drop in temps. On highway on a nice stretch temps average about 170-190*. Good luck-try that mix should help some. Water cools better than coolant. Coolant is really designed to prevent freezing and rust in radiators not soo much to cool the engine better
Yes, Hawaii ocean water temps are about 77 in the winter and 82 in the summer. The water is clear, clean, warm and refreshing.
