You must have a modified camshaft. The lift on the cam is to high of a lift and the rocker arms are binding on the studs. You need to use a long slot rocker arms to stop that. You also need to check the rocker are studs and make sure they are not cut in half.

How does a rocker arm break?

A rocker arm can break due to several factors, including excessive wear from prolonged use, material fatigue from repeated stress cycles, or improper installation leading to misalignment. Additionally, insufficient lubrication can cause overheating and failure. In some cases, a sudden engine malfunction or a foreign object entering the engine can also result in a catastrophic break. Regular maintenance and inspection can help prevent such failures.

Can a bad distribtor caps ruien new spark plugs?

Spark Plug Wear and DamageNo, a bad distributor cap will not damage new spark plugs. What does cause damage to spark plugs includes:"Cross-threading" when attempting to screw the plugs into the engine head (s). This will not only ruin the threads on the plug, BUT worse... ruin the threads in the engine head (s).Improperly handling of the plugs [dropping to floor which can break or bend the ground terminal, or break the ceramic part of the plug].Improperly set gap [can cause bad ignition resulting in burning or carbonizing on the plug].There may be some other causes for damage to spark plugs that I cannot think of at this time.
