Baby Doe, nee Elizabeth McCourt, was born Sept. 25, 1854, in Oshkosh, WI. She lists the day and month in her papers on file at Colorado Histrical Society. The year is shown on her baptismal records with the archives of the Diocese of Green Bay which is listed as October 7, 1954. Baby Doe's death is unknowable precisely. Her body was found March 7, 1935, after a snowstorm ended. The storm was several days duration. Before it, neighbors had seen smoke rising above her cabin. There was no smoke arising from there on March 7. This is by James I. Metz, emailo jimetz@northnet.net
