Not much. He was considered a failure. The biggest difference he made was he brought the New World and the Old World together for the first time. He was only a "tip of the iceburg" and for the Native Americans from 1492 on the world would never be the same.
Although many negative things can be said about Christopher Columbus, it was his imagination and courage that by accident led Europeans into the Western Hemisphere. Whether Erick the Red " discovered" the New World first does not really matter as his voyages did little to have Europeans colonize the "New World".
He was the first documented person to visit the New World: North and South America. And he told people about it, unlike the Vikings who were the first Europeans to visit the New World. Christopher Columbus, in exploring the Americas, was also responsible for the spread of communicable diseases such as smallpox, which the Native Americans did not know how to treat. Columbus and his men inadvertently caused epidemics that wiped out entire tribes. Furthermore, Columbus expanded on trade with the Native Americans. When he found the New World, he also found things he had never seen before: various beads, spices, animals, birds, and of course customs. His crews might have traded spyglasses or knowledge for various objects. The Natives taught Columbus many things about agriculture, etc. When the crews could not gain what they wanted by bartering, they often stole it by physical force, or threatened it out of the Natives.
he changed society by travelling around and getting more land for spain.
Before he changes his course. Columbus sees the meteorite on 15th, but he doesn't alter his route until Pinzon sees a flight of birds.
His impact still echoes through the centuries. He was the start of the European invasion of the new world. The moment he stepped onto land he brought with him disease, and the old world to the new. The Native Americans would be killed, enslaved, and pushed off ancestral lands by the Europeans. For his part Columbus was a greedy man who wanted riches from his voyages, but he died broke and sick not knowing how he changed the world of Native Americans.
Columbus day is celebrated to honor Columbus' voyages to the New World. His "discovery" of the New World literally changed history forever.
He changed their world. Brought disease, slavery, and discrimination.
he allowed the people to have a better life on the islands or villages he found.
The understanding of geography changed by the voyage of Christopher Columbus was that the world is not flat. Another discovery was that there are more people in the world.

The name is not changed in Spanish. It is Columbus, Ohio. Using the Spanish name for Columbus (Cristóbal Colón) would just be confusing.

It was first celebrated on Oct.12..but I wrote a strongly worded letter and got onto talk shows condemning this smear of Columbus..for it was Columbus who introduced the cow and pig and horse and wheat to this hemisphere and thus he helped to alliviate world hunger, taking back to Europe the fruits of this continent..it was subsequently changed to the week after Columbus day...Nino Baldino
Christpher Columbus changed the world because he discovered the Americas. Some people thought that the Earth was flat and that it was possible to fall off, him hitting Cuba, proved that thought wrong.
