Charlie has a grudge against Edward because he left Bella hanging in the last book. Edward then leaves and Bella contemplates going to see Jacob and they have had a fall out. But when Bella gets to the cab of her truck she realises Edward is in there too and Alice had seen Bella going out. (Presumebly to visit Jacob - as Alice cant see werewolves in her visions). To finish the chapter Edward says if Bella doesnt want him to come over that night she should keep her window shut. Bella then goes storming into the house up to her room and slams the window shut. This gets her introuble with Charlie since he doesnt want Edward going with her. Things settle but then Bella decides she needs to go see Jacob. But Edward, thanks to Alice, knew she was going and cut the engine to her truck - keeping her from going. This is just a short summary, the actual chapter is quite funny if you read it.
