In "Lord of the Flies," Jack expresses his belief that Piggy doesn't have the right to speak and that he shouldn't be chief in Chapter 1. This demonstrates Jack's early disdain for Piggy and his desire to assert his dominance over the group.
He thinks Jack will harm him.
Jack asked the boys, "Who thinks Ralph oughtn't to be chief?" there was no reply so he asked again, "Hands up... whoever wants Ralph not to be chief?" Nobody raised their hand. I'm not sure if this was technically a vote but Jack certainly asked for a vote.
That he thinks his hunters are incompetent at what they do and that Ralph is not a proper chief because he talks like piggy.

In chapter one Jack states, "I ought to be chief, becasue I'm chapter chorister and head boy. I can sing C sharp." In chapter eight Jack criticises Ralph's leadership by say "He's not a hunter. He'd neevr have got us meat." Which by implication means that as Jack is a hunter and has got them meat he should be leader.
Jack blows the conch for the assembly to talk about the beast and that Ralph thinks that Jack's hunters are cowards and can't face the beast.
In Chapter 8, Jack asks everyone to vote for him as chief. When no one votes for him, he gets embarrassed and he starts to cry.
Ralph is elected chief during the very first meeting, which happens very early in the book.
Roger calls Jack a "real chief" because Jack successfully leads the boys in hunting and provides them with meat, which helps to solidify his authority and status as a leader. Roger admires Jack's ability to assert power and control over the group.
In Chapter one, The Sound Of The Shell, the boys hold a vote to decide whether to elect Ralph or Jack as their chief, Ralph wins the vote. In chapter five, Beast From Water, Ralph calls an assembly and holds a vote on the question, "Who thinks there may be ghosts?" The vote goes in favour of a belief in ghosts.
Chief Jack House died in 1971.
Chief Hunter Jack died in 1905.
